be a more complete hitter...adds a lefty bat to come off the bench in key situations... #3 Cornell Nixon Shortstop Sophomore 5'8     140 5/22/95 Transfer from Columbia HS in Dekalb County...has made a good transition to Lassiter and is a welcomed addition to this year's squad...highlight reel defensive plays during the preseason solidified him as the starting shortstop...quick hands with bat produce hard line drives and ground balls...potential blue-chip prospect with increased arm strength and ability to drive the baseball...most dangerous part of his game at this stage is his speed, not just on the bases, but in his exceptional range at shortstop... #4 Austin Rose Catcher Junior 5'9     160 8/12/94 Solid defensive catcher who overcomes his size with tremendous fundamentals...receives and blocks the ball as well as anyone...hits the ball to the opposite field well...added arm strength and consistency at the plate could make him a contender to replace Anthes behind the plate...outstanding student who competes in the classroom as much as he does on the field...tremendous student who carries a 4.3 GPA in the classroom... #5 Michael Fowke Pitcher Senior 6'1     170 6/11/93 Senior righty who makes the jump to the Varsity staff in 2011 after really improving his stuff on the JV last year...fastball in the 80s, good curve, and effective change-up make his selection of pitches---key to his effectiveness will be his consistency to throw strikes and locate his fastball...should be a key member of the Trojans bullpen in 2011...JV Coaches Award winner in 2010... #6 Parker Roush Infielder Junior 5'10     160 4/24/94 Second baseman who comes up from the JV team...will gain valuable experience playing behind Ward on a daily basis...contact hitter at the plate with a good level swing...consistency with his glove and ability to hit will give him a chance to replace one of Lassiter's best second basemen...played 3B and 2B on the JV team the past 2 years... #7 AJ Perez Catcher Junior 5'9     150 3/23/94 Returning catcher who makes the jump from the JV to the Varsity for 2011 season...tremendous work ethic and willingness to perform any role make him a great teammate...increasing overall catching skills will make him a contender at catcher in 2012...will gain valuable knowledge and experience behind one of the state's best catchers...continues to improve his swing... #8 Audi Plemmons Outfielder Junior 5'10     170 9/13/93 Athletic outfielder who moves up from the JV this season...may have been the best defensive outfielder in the program last year...can really track down balls in centerfield...will see time in both center and left this season...long swinger who has to improve his consistency at the plate...speed should make him a threat on the base paths...strong, athletic kid who has a chance to be in the lineup for the next two years...late season call-up during the 2010 state runner-up season...JV Gold Glove Award winner in 2010.... #9 Jared Aarons Outfielder Junior 5'10     170 9/22/93 Talented outfielder making his third appearance on the varsity roster...can play any of the outfield spots...mostly held down the tough right field spot on the 2010 state runner-up squad, but moved to center during the 2011 preseason and has shown ability to track the ball to both gaps...has shown occasional pop with the bat with a couple of clutch homers over the past two seasons...constantly working on his swing; probably spends more time in the cage than any other player...serious competitor who wants to produce and contribute to the team's success every  chance he gets....exceptional student who has over a 4.0 GPA in the classroom....action on the varsity both as a freshman and a sophomore includes 50-plus at-bats, 11 hits, two doubles, two homers, and fourteen runs scored... #10 Keegan Corley Third Base/Shortstop Junior 5'9     150 7/20/94 Junior who has made a position change that got him the starting 3B job this year...played shortstop past two years on JV...strong arm at the hot corner...continues to get accustomed to 3B and shows great promise making the routine as well as the spectacular plays...contact hitter who sprays line drives from gap to gap...will see at-bats the middle third of the line-up as he adjusts to Varsity pitching...good speed on the bases allows him to be a threat...late season call-up in 2010 where he was part of the state runner-up team...JV MVP in 2010.... #11 Eli Long Outfielder Senior 6'0     190 1/5/93 Senior outfielder who competes as hard as anyone on the team...can play either corner outfield spot...line drive swinger who works continuously to improve his swing...speed allows him to help on the bases in crucial situations...has improved tracking the ball in the outfield since an injury-plagued junior season...starting defensive end on the state playoff Lassiter football team the past two years...outstanding in the classroom as he carries over a 4.2 GPA...member of last year's state runner-up baseball team... #12 Matt Davis Pitcher Junior 5'8     175 8/25/93 One of only two lefty throwers in the program...will see innings out of the pen as a matchup guy...crafty lefty who poses the common southpaw problems for hitters...had a good preseason consistently throwing strikes and getting guys out...throws fastball and curve for strikes and mixes an occasional change up to keep hitters off-balance... #13 Parker Shank Pitcher Senior 6'4     180 5/30/92 Key returning member of the Trojans pitching staff in 2011...saw most of his action in 2010 closing games behind a strong starting trio that has since graduated...unorthodox throwing motion, but good sinking action on fastball to go along with a devastating change-up leads to a lot of ground ball outs...in pitching lingo, "his is good at missing barrels"...fastball will register in the mid-80s, but his strength is the ability to repeat his delivery, move the ball around, keep it below the knees, and get those ground balls...tall, slender kid who is projectable at the next level...tremendous student with a GPA over 4.0...member of the 2010 State finalist team...JV Gold Glove Award winner in 2009...2010 STATS-29 1/3 IP, 5-2 record, 2 saves, 17 appearances, 25 hits allowed, 27 K, 5 BB, 3.10 ERA... #14 Mitch Shelby Pitcher Senior 5'11     160 5/12/93 Confident right hander who has made himself into a very effective starting pitcher...played middle infield early in his high school career, but moved solely to the mound last year and saw some action out of the bullpen on the state runner-up squad...gets a lot out of his compact size as he exhibits a mid-80s fastball that makes his devastating curve ball even more dangerous...key for him will be his efficiency and ability to go deep in games...projected to be a strong number two starter behind Shank for the 2011 campaign...2010 STATS-8 IP, 1-0 record, 6 K, 3 BB, 6.13 ERA... #15 Caleb Kutsche Infielder/Pitcher Sophomore 6'2     150 6/18/94 Promising sophomore who makes the leap to the Varsity after a successful freshman season on the JV...shortstop with plus hands...tall kid who is continuing to figure out what he can do with his 6'3" frame...working on lengthening his swing, so he can show more pop at the plate...will also add needed depth on the mound...good fastball with a sharp slider, and effective changeup....big, young body that makes him projectable as a strong right-handed thrower...sold mechanics on the hill... #16 Tyler Elwer Pitcher/Outfielder/First Base Sophomore 6'2     150 4/23/95 Tall, strong looking righty, who has a chance to see a lot of innings on the mound for the 2011 Trojans...exhibits steady, consistent mechanics as a pitcher, three-quarter arm action gives him movement on his fastball that produces ground ball outs...could be a starter, but likely to be called on quickly out of the bullpen...also, solid outfield skills give him a chance to see innings at one of the corner outfield spots...needs to fine tune swing in order to produce consistently at the plate... #17 Chris Heitzman Outfielder Junior 6'2     185 5/19/94 Strong, athletic outfielder who can play left or center...ball explodes off his bat when he squares it up...key to seeing more time will be tied to his ability to put the ball in play on a consistent basis...short, powerful swing that he works on daily...adds depth to a talented mix of inexperienced outfielders...big pop at the plate makes him a serious contender for the 2011 designated hitter...played quarterback on the state playoff Lassiter football team the past two seasons... #18 Andy Rief Outfielder/Pitcher Senior 6'1     185 10/6/92 Speedy, strong outfielder who moves over to hold down the challenging right field spot...came in to the 2011 seasons with a better swing that had produced the ability to hit the ball to all fields on a consistent basis...really tracks the ball well in right and poses a defensive threat with a plus, plus arm...should be a mainstay in the middle of order if he can consistently put the ball in play and produce runs behind the big bats at the top of the Trojan line-up...also adds a big arm to the depth of the 2011 pitching staff...member of the 2010 state finalist team... #20 Andrew McLarnon Pitcher Senior 6'0     190 9/2/92 Senior rightly back for his second year on the Varsity pitching staff...mixes location with his fastball and a good curve to keep hitters off stride...also has an effective change-up he can use to get both righties and lefties out...,should see action as a starter in 2011 after another strong pre-season and appearing out of the pen during last year's state runner-up season...transferred from Denver-area back in 2009...very talented golfer who made an ace during this year's baseball golf tournament at Bradshaw Farms...JV Cy Young Award winner in 2009... #21 Alec Youngblood Outfielder Senior 6'0     170 1/11/93 Senior who makes the move from second base to the outfield this season....primary backup to Ward at 2B on the 2010 runner-up team...shows promise at the plate with a swing that produces hart-hit line drives...keeps the barrel in the swing zone as good as anyone which leads to a lot of hard hit balls...consistent in his outfield play will make him a contender for the left field spot, but his consistent ability to produce runs will give him a shot to be the designated hitter on a daily basis...Lassiter pedigree includes older brother, Grant, who played on the last Trojans' state championship team back in 2006...JV Coaches Award winner in 2009... #22 Nelson Ward Second Base Senior 5'10     160 8/6/92 Second baseman who returns to the leadoff position for the fourth consecutive year...one of the rare four-year starters at Lassiter...hard-nosed player who has an instinct for making things happen on the bases...lefty swinger who hits mostly for average, but can drive the ball to the gaps...strength has increased which should lead to more power numbers...great speed...maybe the best second baseman in the state...turns the double play as well as anyone...soft hands and plus range...member of 2008 region championship and 2010 state runner-up teams...signed during the early period to play at UGA...Rookie of the Year Award winner in 2008 and Gold Glove Award winner in 2010...2010 STATS-.452 BA, Sophomore who adds depth to an inexperienced pitching staff...righty that had a good preseason getting people out...should see added velocity as he matures on the mound...off-speed pitches still developing, but look for him to grow into a good pitcher following his baseball pedigree...father pitched in the minor leagues...innings will be tied to need of bullpen innings and his competitiveness on the mound... #24 Wes Burns First Base Senior 6'2     215 7/7/93 Three year starter after being called up to Varsity as a sophomore...was a starter on the 2010 state runner-up team...tremendously improved at first base last year after moving from the other corner spot...strong lefty swinger who can drive the ball to all fields...average numbers have outpaced his power stats due to his consistency in driving the ball to left field...will be counted on to produce a lot of offense for the 2011 Trojans...ability to hit all pitches to all fields makes him a threat in the cleanup hole again this year...instinctive on the base paths ...will be counted on to produce a lot of offense for the 2011 Trojans...competitiveness and work ethic got him in the line-up in 2009, and he has only increased his focus on these intangibles which was rewarded by a scholarship commitment to Gordon College...JV Triple Crown and Rookie of the Year Award winner in 2009 and Silver Slugger Award winner Sophomore 5'10     170 3/29/93 sophomore outfielder with a lot of pop at the plate...can drive the ball to all fields...provides depth to a stable of young, talented outfielders in the Lassiter Program...strength is also evident in the speed he exhibits running the bases...will see action for the 2011 JV Trojans in left field as well as at the DH spot... #3 Eric Ankerholz Infielder/Pitcher Sophomore 5'10     140 12/3/94 versatile player who moves into the shortstop position in 2011...soft hands, reliable glove, and consistent arm make him a key to the defensive effort on the JV this season...line drive, average hitter who will be looked upon to produce this year...could also get some innings on the mound...throws a lot of strikes with a good mix of fastballs and offspeed pitches...increasing his velocity will give him a shot to crack the varsity staff in 2012...also played guard on the Lassiter JV basketball team this season...exceptional student who has attained a GPA of over 4.1... #4 JT Higginbottom Pitcher/Outfielder Freshman 5'10     130 9/1/96 versatile athlete who can roam the outfield as well as get hitters out on the pitcher's mound..competes on a daily basis to get better and be the best player he can be...solid pitching mechanics lead to a lot of strikes and outs...good frame that can grow into a strong player as he matures in years to come...better offensive production and increasing his ability to track down flyballs could lead to more innings in the lineup for the 2011 JV Trojans... #5 Zach Lippincott Catcher/Pitcher Sophomore 5'11     155 11/21/94 sophomore making his debut in a Lassiter uniform in 2011...talented catcher who exhibits all-around solid skills behind the dish...should see most of the innings at the catching spot and fill a middle of the order spot for this year's JV team...big swinger that showed ability to drive the ball out of the park during the preseason...continued improvement will add to the catching competition next season... #6 Patrick Levandoski Outfielder Sophomore 5'6     130 3/14/95 speedy outfielder who can really go get balls in the outfield...sophomore who transitioned from an infielder to the outfield during the preseaon and earned a top spot among the outfield corp...exceptional range and solid glove skills...puts pressure on defenses with what may be the best speed in the program...pleasant surprise during his debut tryout this year as speed is always a key intangible to possess...more strength and ability to drive the ball will make him a complete player... #7 Fabian Mejias Infielder Sophomore 5'10     155 5/14/95 one of the purest swings on the JV...once again earned a spot with his natural ability to hit the baseball...also shows a great deal of improvement with his glove at second base since his freshman season...could increase his arm strength and glove skills to make him a more well-rounded player....great student with over a 4.0 GPA in the classroom... #8 Steven Jenkins Outfielder Sophomore 5'10     150 2/12/95 outfielder who moves from left to right for the 2011 season...cam back bigger, stronger, and faster for his sophomore year...right in the mix of the competition between a deep group of Lassiter outfielders...exhibited an unexpected power display at the plate during the preseason...improvement in his ability to hit the ball to all fields and hit for average will make him a more complete player... #10 John Melson Infielder/Pitcher Freshman 5'5     110 11/22/95 solid middle infielder who adds depth to the middle of the diamond...possesses soft hands when fielding grounders...scrappy player who reads hops well and attacks the ball to make up for a lack of size and arm strength...switch hitter who shows more pop from the right side and has great competitiveness every at-bat...physical and muscle strength will be the key to his development as he exhibits some of the program's best infield fundamentals already as a freshman.... #11 Patrick Holmes First Base Sophomore 6'2     175 2/24/95 sophomore first baseman who maybe the most improved player in the program...added size and strength in the offseason, which has led to a better, more productive swing in 2011...will see a lot of action at first base this season, but could also fill in at catcher if needed...hard-nosed player who brings his football competitiveness to the diamond...backup quaterback on the 2011 Lassiter football state playoff team... #12 Jacob Anthes Pitcher/Outfielder Freshman 5'7     140 2/6/96 young, small freshman whose baseball fundamentals are more advanced than most his age...easy to observe that he has been around the ballpark a lot watching his older brother, current Lassiter catcher, Reed...right handed pitcher with solid mechanics and ability to move the ball around the plate...also plays the outfield...looking for him to grow and get stronger, which should lead to an increased ability to throw more innings in the future... #13 Alex Roth Pitcher/Catcher Freshman 5'6     120 5/6/96 freshman who adds depth at both catcher and pitcher...showed promise during the pre-season with his ability to get hitters out...good mix of fastballs and off-speed pitches make him effective on the mound...good strike thrower who could eat up innings for the JV in 2011... #14 Casey Robbins Infielder/Pitcher Freshman 5'11     150 2/21/96 talented, young, athletic freshman...one of the most athletic freshman to enter the program...can play any of the infield positions, but is probably a better pitcher than infielder...competitive, quick worker makes him extremely effective on the mound...good fastball complemented by a sharp breaking ball...ability to hit the ball in the gaps and good speed also makes him an offensive threat....played guard in the Lassiter Basketball program.... #15 Nate Parsons Pitcher/Outfielder Freshman 5'10     140 8/26/95 infielder/pitcher who possesses good pitching mechanics and is a hard worker...showed ability to throw strikes and get hitters out during the pre-season...injured wrist just after tryouts has delayed his participation, but not stopped him from performing various roles and exhibiting his exceptional work ethic around the ballpark...also played quarterback on the Lassiter 9th grade football back in the fall.... #17 Tim Eber Pitcher/Outfielder Freshman 5'10     150 12/7/95 talented freshman lefty thrower who shows great promise to be that rare hard throwing southpaw...strong kid who does everything with all-out effort...fills up the strike zone from the mound as he mixes a heavy fastball with a good curve and deceptive change...as his stamina and arm strength increase he should develop into one of the signature left handed throwers in this baseball rich area...also plays the outfield...aggressive swinger who looks to drive the ball with every swing... #18 Nicky Esposito Infielder Freshman 5'5     130 2/23/96 freshman second baseman who brings needed depth to the Lassiter middle infield ranks plus a Lassiter Baseball pedigree that includes his older brother Cuyler who played for the Trojans from 2006-2009...good hitter that could crack the lineup as he shows improvement and consistency with his glove skills and range at second...line drive, average hitter...also played guard on the Lassiter 9th grade basketball team... #20 Brennan Dolan First Base/Pitcher Freshman 5'10     165 9/22/95 lefty swinging first baseman...puts the ball in play as well as any of the young Lassiter hitters; just needs to add strength to make him more of an offensive threat at the plate...glove skills with the first base mitt improve daily...exhibits skills that remind coaches of former Lassiter star first baseman Robbie O'Bryan... #21 Joshua Bermudez First Base/Outfielder Freshman 5'10     135 7/24/96 switch hitting, versatile big kid who can play a lot of positions...primarily an outfielder, but size and athleticism make him a viable option at first base...puts the ball in play from both sides of the plate, but would like to see a player with his size increase his pop and drive the ball a little more...good defensive player who shows ability to throw a lot of strikes from the mound providing depth in the Lassiter pitching staff.... #23 Davis Sander Third  Base/Pitcher Freshman 6'3     160 11/2/95 big, strong looking freshman corner player...current size and expectation to get stronger project him to be a big threat in the Lassiter lineup for years to come...works daily to improve his glove skills and soften his hands fielding the ball...looking for him to show some pop at the plate and produce runs as he refines his swing to match his big frame...another position player who has good pitching mechanics and can get guys out from the mound...played the post on the Lassiter JV Basketball team this year.... #24 Matt McGuire Outfielder/Pitcher Freshman 5'7     140 9/6/95 freshman outfielder who has ability to be a five tool guy before he is finished....really knows what to do with the bat as he rarely gets cheated at the plate...big arm from the outfield as well as on the mound...two areas of improvement that could lead to him being a blue-chip prospect later in his career are his ability to hit the ball to all fields consistently and cover the expanses in centerfield...extraordinary strength and speed already exhibited at a young age project him to be another big-time player out of the Lassiter Baseball program...played receiver on the Lassiter 9th grade football back in the fall.... MANAGER Kalie Seaman Freshman first year in the baseball program...gained an appreciation and excitement for Lassiter Baseball through watching her older brother play for two years and her father, who has coached for several years now...played third base on the Lassiter JV softball team this past fall....excellent student who carries a 3.8 GPA early in her high school academic career....
