receiving and throwing the baseball...short, compact swing at the plate that produces a great deal of contact and line drives to all fields...should log innings behind the plate as he competes with senior Zach Lippincott...has proven to be an excellent situational hitter in the preseason who could also serve as a dangerous stick off the Trojan bench... #3 Cornell Nixon Shortstop Senior 5'9"    165 5/22/95 Senior shortstop who begins his third season in a Lassiter uniform...recently signed a letter of intent with Kennesaw State to continue his baseball career...looks to build on a solid junior campaign where he carried a .365 average as the leadoff man for the offense and served as a cornerstone of the Trojan defense...has shown the potential in the preseason to provide leadership to the 2013 Lassiter club...needs to show patience and consistency at the top of the order to serve as a sparkplug for the offense... #4 JT Higginbottom Outfield/RHP Junior 5'11"    160 1/29/96 Junior who looks to compete for innings in the Trojan outfield and on the mound during the 2013 season...has shown improved strength at the plate during the preseason driving line drives to all fields...improved command on the mound could make him a valuable asset out of the Lassiter bullpen...tracks balls well of the bat in the outfield and has the ability to play any of the outfield positions... #5 Zach Lippincott Catcher Senior 6'    180 11/21/94 Senior who recently signed with Andrew College to continue his baseball career...comes into the season looking to become the starter behind the dish for the Trojans...talented catcher who exhibits good all around skills behind the plate...strong, consistent line drive producing swing at the plate...needs to continue to work on hitting the baseball hard to the opposite field to become a more complete hitter...receiving skills have improved but will be a focal point for his senior campaign... #6 Nate Dupree LHP/1st Base Sophomore 6'1"    175 6/26/97 Talented sophomore lefty who looks to fight for a spot in the starting rotation during the 2013 campaign...has an advanced feel on the mound for a player his age...comes off a freshman season that saw him log some varsity innings and post a couple victories for the 2012 Trojans...comes into the season a year older and more physically mature which has allowed him to add some velocity to his fastball...ability to throw strikes on a consistent basis could dictate his overall level of success this season... #7 John Melson RHP/SS Junior 5'9"    140 11/22/95 Junior submariner who threw valuable innings out of the Lassiter bullpen as a sophomore...will be counted on to do the same during the 2013 campaign...also a sure-handed shortstop who will get valuable experience practicing and playing behind Cornell Nixon...switch-hitter who has shown improved strength from both sides of the plate during the preseason... #8 Steven Jenkins Outfield Senior 6'    175 2/12/95 Senior outfielder who comes into his fourth season as a member of the Lassiter program...has shown gap power in the preseason which will make him a contender for innings in the outfield this season...has shown the ability to cover ground and get good jumps off the bat in right field...improved consistency will give him the best chance to be a major contributor during the 2013 season... #9 Jacob Anthes RHP Junior 5'9"    175 2/6/96 Junior righthander who makes the step up to the varsity level this season...follows in the footsteps of older brother, Reid, a 2011 LHS graduate...younger brother, Nathan, joins the team as a member of the JV squad...good command of three pitches and improved velocity will make him a potential contributor out of the bullpen during the 2013 campaign... #10 Eric Ankerholz Second Base/Third Base Senior 6'    165 12/3/94 Senior infielder who gained valuable experience during the 2012 season as a member of the Region 5 champs...worked hard in the offseason to improve his strength and conditioning which was evident during the preseason...is expected to play a vital role at second or third base this season...offensive consistency could be a major factor in deciding his overall role this season... #11 Patrick Holmes First Base Senior 6'2"    180 2/24/95 Senior 1st baseman who saw time at first and as a baserunner during the 2012 season...very competitive, high energy player who makes everyone around him better...hard-working, hard-nosed player who does whatever is asked of him to make his team better...sure-handed 1st baseman whose offensive game improves daily... #12 Will Anderson Third Base/RHP Junior 6'1"    190 4/6/95 Newcomer to the Lassiter program after playing two years on the varsity level at Wesleyan...strong-armed third baseman who should step into the middle of the Lassiter lineup with a strong, compact, gap-driving swing...could also be a major contributor on the mound as he showed a hard fastball and good offspeed pitches in the preseason...could be counted on to play a leadership role as he is also a quarterback in football... #13 KJ Sinclair RHP Senior 6'2"    180 7/26/94 Senior who pitched in some big situations as a member of the starting rotation during the 2012 campaign...good combination of fastballs and offspeed pitches that keep hitters off-stride...looks to improve on a 4.23 ERA in 2012...could be considered as a starter or a mainstay of the bullpen during the 2013 season...could play a big part in the success of the team this season... #14 Casey Robbins RHP/3B Junior 6'1"    180 2/21/96 Valuable member of the bullpen during the 2012 season...posted an impressive 2.33 ERA in 12 innings as a sophomore...will be counted on to play a vital role out of the bullpen during the 2013 campaign...improved command and consistently throwing strikes will dictate his success on the mound...physically mature player who could also play a role offensively with a strong, compact swing... #15 Caleb Kutsche RHP/Outfield Senior 6'4"    170 6/18/94 Comes into the 2013 season looking to build on an impressive 2012 season as the anchor of the Lassiter starting rotation...recently signed a letter of intent with Columbus State to continue his baseball career...long, lean athletic pitcher who repeats his delivery and is a consistent strike thrower...2.79 ERA and a 54-11 strikeout to walk ratio speak to his ability to command his pitches...very good athlete who has made the move from the infield to the outfield and could anchor a spot in the outfield, when he's not on the mound, during the 2013 campaign... #16 Alex Hess RHP Junior 6'3"    195 3/28/96 Junior righthander who steps up to the varsity level this season...improved his velocity and command during the offseason and could be counted on to come out of an already deep Lassiter bullpen...does a good job of mixing fastballs and offspeed pitches to keep hitters off-stride...ability to consistently throw strikes against varsity competition could dictate how many inning he could see on the mound this season... #18 Nick Esposito Second Base/Third Base Junior 5'9"    170 2/23/96 Infielder who makes the step up to the varsity level after two years on the JV...good contact hitter at the plate who continues to work daily on his swing...solid infielder who needs to improve his consistency on the defensive side to gain more time in the field...follows in the footsteps of older brother, Cuyler, who graduated in 2009... #20 Brennan Dolan RHP/First Base Junior 6'2"    195 9/22/95 Left-handed hitting 1st baseman who makes the jump to the varsity after two years on the JV...also a pitcher on the JV level who recorded a 1.83 ERA during the 2012 campaign...will be looked at to provide a left-handed stick off the bench and could possibly work his way into the bullpen to earn some innings during 2013... #21 Tim Eber LHP/Outfield Junior 6'1"    180 12/7/95 Junior southpaw who played a major role in the success of the 2012 Region 5-AAAAA champs...posted a 4-1 record in 2012 as the number two starter in the rotation...high expectations for this young man coming into 2013 as he has a chance to be a high level college prospect on the mound...consistent strike thrower who does a good job keeping hitters off-stride by changing speeds and mixing his breaking stuff in effectively...also shows promise in the outfield and at the plate where he swings from the left side and has showed some pop in the preseason... #22 Matt McGuire Outfield Junior 5'8"    170 9/6/95 Junior who begins his third season as a member of the Lassiter varsity squad...comes off a very good sophomore year as he posted a .295 average with three home runs...plate discipline has been a primary focus during the preseason as he continues to refine his offensive approach...is expected to hold down a starting position in the outfield for the second straight year possibly making the switch from left to center field... #23 Davis Sander RHP/Third Base Junior 6'4"    180 11/2/95 Big-bodied junior who makes the leap to the varsity level after two years on the JV...makes the move to the opposite corner of the diamond this season...has shown good hands in the field and the ability to get hitters out from the mound in the preseason...needs to continue to work on his swing to develop more consistency at the plate... #24 Patrick Levandoski Outfield Senior 5'10"    160 3/14/95 Returning starter in right field for 2013...pesky top of the order hitter who seems to find his way on base in every way possible...good speed which allows him to track down balls in the outfield that few others can...comes off a junior campaign that saw him post a .277 batting average...competitive contact hitter who doesn't surrender easily and makes pitchers work extra hard...was a mainstay of the defense for the Lassiter football team in the fall where he was a starting defensive back... #27 Grant Berry Second Base Sophomore 5'10"    155 1/29/97 Talented, athletic sophomore infielder who swings it from the left side...has shown surprising pop in the preseason...sure-handed infielder with quick hands and a strong throwing arm...needs to continue to groom his swing during the 2013 season to become a more consistent and productive hitter...has the potential to develop into a top tier college prospect over the next few seasons... #34 Tyler Elwer First Base/RHP Senior 6'2"    175 4/23/95 Incumbent first baseman coming into the 2013 campaign...recently signed a letter of intent with Georgia Highlands College to continue his baseball career...showed the ability to be a very productive hitter during the 2012 season...needs to improve pitch selection and become more patient at the plate in order to become a more consistent threat...should make his return to the mound after missing the 2012 season on the bump after Tommy John surgery...showed great promise on the mound during
