Kyle Rustay

 VARSITY HEAD COACH

Kyle Rustay began his Lassiter career in 2006 staff and took the helm in 2016.  Coach Rustay moved south to Georgia in July of 2005 after coaching baseball for seven years at East Jessamine High School in Nicholasville, Kentucky.  His stint at East Jessamine included a year as the varsity head coach.  Coach Rustay is a graduate of Jessamine County High School where he was a four year letter winner in baseball and cross country.  He received his undergraduate degree from Transylvania University, then went on to complete his masters degree from the University of Kentucky, both located in Lexington. While at Transylvania, Kyle was a three year starter in the outfield and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. 
 
Immediately upon arriving in the Atlanta area in Fall 2005, Coach Rustay taught Marketing as a supply teacher at Lassiter, before finishing the year in a full-time position at North Cobb High School.  He served as an assistant baseball coach for the Warriors, helping them make it to the State Playoffs where they lost to eventual state champion, Lassiter, in the first round.  In addition to his baseball duties, Coach Rustay is a teacher in the Business Department, where he teaches Economics, and AP Economics. His work ethic, energy, and enthusiasm year round make Coach Rustay a valuable member of the coaching staff at Lassiter.   Kyle's wife, Jeness, is employed by Ernst & Young. They have two sons, Emmett (LHS 2029) and Miller (LHS 2031).

Brac Barton

VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Barton was born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia where he was a two sport letterman for the Cartersville Hurricanes, playing four years of baseball and basketball. Coach Barton played baseball under Coach Stuart Chester during his high school career, being a part of four region championships, three trips to the Final Four, and a AAA state title in 2008. Barton was twice nominated for the All Bartow County team.

Upon graduating from high school, Coach Barton received a baseball scholarship to Georgia Perimeter College where he played two years at the junior college level, placing first in the GA-JUCO conference his freshman year. After his two years at GPC, Barton took his career to Augusta State University to play in the Peach Belt, a DII powerhouse conference.

Coach Barton graduated from Augusta State University in 2013 with a bachelor's of science in education, coaching at Evans High School in Augusta while completing his student teaching. Coach Barton is married to Lassiter alum, Caitlin Peisel, a member of the 2007 state championship fastpitch team.  The Barton's have three kids; Skylar, Harper, and Tanner. 

MICHAEL FRAKER

VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Fraker will again be working mostly with the pitchers this season.  This is his 11th season at Lassiter.  He is a graduate of North Cobb High School and Kennesaw State University.  He has coached baseball for 29 years at Lithia Springs, South Cobb, Sprayberry, Osborne, North Springs, and Lassiter.  

Coach Fraker has two children.  His daughter, Hayden, is a teacher at Pope where she is also in charge of the Diamond Girls baseball support group.  His son Brantley is a Lassiter graduate who lives in Defuniak Springs, Florida

Jason Campbell

JV Head Coach/Varsity Assistant 

Coach Campbell joins the Lassiter baseball program for the first year this season.  Coach Campbell is also the head fastpitch coach, where in his 12 year stint at Lassiter has made an elite 8 appearance 9 times, won back to back state titles in 2020 and 2021, and has finished 3rd 5 times.  Campbell has an overall record of 334-88 while at Lassiter.  

Coach Campbell also coached baseball at McEachern and Hillgrove, prior to joining the Lassiter Staff.

Coach Campbell is married to Brooke Campbell, and they have three kids; Drew, Chase, and Kate. 

 

KENNETH LING

JV ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Ling is in his second year as a member of the Lassiter Baseball Program. Five years ago, Coach Ling and his family moved to Georgia from Florida where he was born and raised. Coach Ling comes to Lassiter from Hillgrove High School. At Hillgrove, Coach Ling coached JV outfield and first base. He has 4 years’ experience coaching baseball and is finishing his 22nd of coaching sports in general.

Coach Ling earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and Coaching from the University of Florida. He has two Master’s degrees from the University of Florida in Special Education and Physical Education. Coach Ling is married to Christina. They have one son, Chase (13) and two boxer dogs, Mack and Molly.
